New briefing: Can sustainability and greenhouse gas standards protect the climate, forests and communities from the impacts of wood-based bioenergy?
This briefing is published jointly by the Global Forest Coalition and our UK and US-based member group, Biofuelwatch. In it we analyse efforts to implement sustainability and greenhouse gas standards for wood-based bioenergy in Europe and North America, and show that they have not been an effective tool for avoiding or even reducing the negative impacts of biomass energy on the climate, forests, biodiversity and communities.
