On the occasion of the 1st Conference for the Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels and the People’s Summit for a Fossil-Free Future, taking place in Santa Marta, Colombia, in April 2026, we invite you to the event Unmasking False Solutions: Weaving Just Transitions, on April 27, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Best Western Hotel, Santa Marta.
Organized by the the Demand Climate Justice Campaign – Latin America and the Caribbean (DCJ LAC), the Latin American and Caribbean Platform for Climate Justice (PLACJC), the Global Forest Coalition (GFC), the Map of False Solutions to the Climate Crisis, LATINDADD and the Just, Popular and Inclusive Energy Transition Project, the event aims to highlight real solutions that already exist in communities to fight climate change and biodiversity loss. Community energy systems, food sovereignty practices, collective management of natural commons, among other gender-just and rights-based community-led initiatives, will be showcased as transformative alternatives toward a just transition.
This event also seeks to be a space to denounce the risks and impacts of the corporate-led energy transition, as well as to strengthen climate and gender justice strategies, aiming for a systemic change to the current model of society.
