We are looking for a Gender Justice and Forests Campaign Associate. You will be responsible for engaging with our global membership to facilitate learning and skill-sharing on gender justice and feminist approaches, as well as promoting community-led gender-transformative alternatives. You will also work closely with the Gender Justice and Forests Campaign coordinator to ensure efficient project coordination, assist in policy advocacy efforts, and manage administrative tasks to support our mission of defending rights-based and gender-responsive approaches globally. The Global Forest Coalition (GFC) is an international coalition of NGOs and Indigenous Peoples’ Organisations advocating for the conservation and restoration of forest ecosystems, through defending and promoting respect for the rights, territories, traditional knowledge and sustainable livelihoods of the Indigenous Peoples and local communities that co-exist with them. GFC promotes rights-based, gender-just and socially just policies to address the main drivers of forest loss. The Global Forest Coalition is a feminist organization that strongly supports gender justice and working with feminist movements.
Overall Purpose of the Role
The Gender Justice and Forests Campaign Associate is responsible for supporting the implementation of impactful strategies to achieve our campaign objectives, assisting the campaign coordinator in implementing project activities. The Campaign Associate will work closely with 1 part-time team member within the campaign. They will also regularly engage with other global team members from the communications and other campaign teams operating from multiple international locations, as well as with GFC members and allies across the world.
Job Role: Campaign Associate: Gender Justice and Forests
Job Type: Part-time position on an external services (freelance) contract to begin with. Estimated workload of 16 hours per week.
Duration: From June 2025 to December 2025 with a possibility of extension.
Remuneration: €80 per day (1 work day = 4 hours)
Location: Remote. Access to a fast and reliable internet connection is required.
The key tasks and responsibilities include:
Project coordination support related to the Gender Justice and Forests campaign:
- Assist the Campaign Coordinator in implementing project activities, managing timelines, and tracking progress across various initiatives.
- Support the compliance with the campaign’s work plans, including helping coordinate skill-sharing activities, workshops and capacity-building sessions on gender justice, feminist approaches, and inclusive forest protection, assisting with logistical arrangements and materials preparation. This includes assisting with the development of concept notes and programs for webinars, targeting both the membership of the GFC, as well as external networks, movements, and allies that GFC engages with.
- Assisting with report preparation, and other planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning tasks as directed.
- Collaborate with the communications team to help produce and disseminate communications materials, awareness campaigns, support social media content creation, and maintain relationships with team members and GFC members.
- Assist with policy research, drafting documents, and compiling resources for advocacy efforts.
- Participate in organising events and activities that promote gender justice values and inclusive forest protection.
- Track and document campaign outcomes, gather data for impact assessments, and support the preparation of monitoring and evaluation reports.
- Provide administrative support for budgeting and financial management, including supporting the preparation of financial budgets.
- Assist in setting up meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining project documentation.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for travels, workshops, and events as needed.
Main requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in project assistance, preferably gender justice and forests, social justice, or related sectors;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a detail-oriented profile.
- Knowledge of gender justice and environmental justice issues, including drivers of deforestation and gender-differentiated impacts, indigenous peoples’ and local community rights;
- Creative, self-motivated, with familiarity with online communication and project management tools;
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal (additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Russian are an advantage);
- Able to work remotely as part of an international team and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office;
- Commitment to GFC’s mission, with an interest in gender equality and environmental justice.
