Media Advisory: Joint Press Conference COP15: Biodiversity’s Paris or Biodiversity’s Copenhagen?

With the future of biodiversity on the line, UN member states meeting in Montreal this December are negotiating a new Global Biodiversity Framework that will guide conservation for the coming decades. Global Forest Coalition members and allies will present views and experiences from the ground, sharing knowledge and experience on what is needed to ensure the post-2020 framework represents a true paradigm shift towards a rights-based, gender-just, equitable and truly effective conservation and restoration of the Earth’s remaining biodiversity.  What are the key issues to be looking out for at COP15 and the negotiations? What are the true costs of offsets, “Nature-based” and “Nature-positive” solutions and other corporate-backed false solutions to the nature crisis? What are the main concerns and warning signs? What must the Global Biodiversity Framework include if we are to have any chance of conserving and protecting Earth’s remaining biodiversity? Join Indigenous Peoples’ representatives, community-based organizations, women’s groups, and experts and analysts from different parts of the world.
