Global Forest Coalition 2024 Annual Report: Strengthening Forests, Rights, and Justice
As we approach our 25th anniversary in 2025, the Global Forest Coalition is proud to share our 2024 Annual Report—a reflection on a year of challenges, achievements, and unwavering commitment to forests, biodiversity, and the communities that depend on them.

In 2024, we strengthened our advocacy at major international policy spaces, including CBD COP16 in Colombia and UNFCCC COP29 in Azerbaijan, amplifying the voices of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and women in all their diversity. From exposing false solutions like carbon markets and biodiversity offsets to promoting community-led, gender-responsive, and rights-based approaches, our campaigns continued to push for transformative change.
Key highlights include:
Hybrid Members’ Assembly: Our first post-pandemic gathering, uniting members worldwide to strategise and strengthen our coalition.
“Real Solutions” Campaign: Advocating for community-driven alternatives to climate and biodiversity policies that harm forests and people.
Gender Justice Initiatives: Elevating the leadership of Indigenous, rural, and Afro-descendant women in forest and biodiversity protection.
Just Food Transition: Challenging industrial livestock production and promoting equitable, sustainable food systems.
Resistance to Extractive Industries: Standing with communities against mining, fossil fuel extraction, and destructive tourism projects while championing Indigenous knowledge.
As we celebrate a quarter-century of defending forests and rights, this report showcases the resilience, solidarity, and impact of our coalition in 2024—and reinforces our determination to continue this vital work in the years ahead.
