GFC in Cancun

In less than a week, the 16th United Nations Climate Conference will take place in Cancun, Mexico.  Many members of the Global Forest Coalition will take part, in side-events, workshops, demonstrations, media interviews, interventions, etc.  Find here a list of activities that GFC members are involved in:

  • 26- 28 Nov + 3-5 Dec:  South-South Summit on Climate Justice and Finance, organized by Jubilee South
  • 27-nov International Indigenous Forum on Climate Change
  • 1-dec Press conference GFC 12.00 – 12.30, room Luna, ground floor of the Moon Palace Expo Centre (Universal). Launch of Underlying Causes report.
  • 1-dec Side-event GFC-Accra caucus: Southern civil society, local community and indigenous peoples perspectives on REDD
  • 2-dec side-event GJEP-Biofuelwatch
  • 3-4 December Arrival of the Caravans
  • 3-dec side event on gender and climate change, 16.45 – 18.15
  • 3-dec side event on risks of climate techno-fixes by ETC Group, Econexus, 20.15 – 21.45
  • 3-5 December  South-South Summit on Climate Justice and Finance
  • 4 or 5 December REDD +++ workshop at La Via Campesina camp
  • 5-dec National assembly of people affected by oil and climate change and other projects related to climate change
  • 4 – 8 December: Alternative Global Forum for Life, Environmental and Social Justice, La Via Campesina
  • 5-10 December: Mexican Climate Dialogue Space (Dialogico Climatico)/International Forum on Climate Justice
  • 6-dec:  full day workshop on REDD+++  co-organized with IEN and other ah the Mexican Climate Dialogue Space
  • 7-dec Day of Action, LVC: mass mobilization of peasants, Indigenous Peoples and movements
  • 7 Dec 11.00 GJEP media conference
