Speakers from Latin America, Asia and Africa will offer critical perspectives on the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), a market approach to forest conservation that is supposed to be launched at the 30th UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil.

Chefe Ninawa, Brazil. Chief Ninawa Huni Kui is the leader of the Huni Kui Federation of the State of Acre, representing 118 communities and over 15,000 people. He is known for his advocacy on climate change, Indigenous rights, and the importance of traditional knowledge.

Pedro Martins, Brazil. Educator with FASE Amazonia, a Brazilian NGO since 1961 that works to promote a democratic and active society in favor of alternatives to the current development model, seeking environmental justice and the universal social, economic, cultural, civil and political rights.

Kwami Kpondzo, Togo. Coordinator of the Global Forest Coalition’s campaign on Extractivism, Tourism and Infrastructure. He is also executive director of the Centre pour le Justice Environnementale, which helps communities find fair alternatives to extractivism.

Pablo Solón, Bolivia. Executive director of Fundación Solón. He is an activist and policy analyst in the areas of water, climate, the environment, trade, finance and systemic alternatives. He was the Ambassador of Bolivia to the United Nations from 2009 to 2011 and co-organized the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and Mother Earth Rights in Cochabamba.

Mary Louise Malig, Bolivia/Philippines. Policy director at the Global Forest Coalition. Originally from the Philippines, she is based in Bolivia and has a background as an activist researcher, policy analyst, and campaigner who has written about trade, food, agriculture, climate change, and deforestation. Previously worked at Via Campesina and Focus on the Global South.

Valentina Figuera Martínez, Brazil/Venezuela. Coordinator of the Global Forest Coalition’s campaign on Gender Justice and Forests.
