Debunking industry myths: Why burning forest biomass for energy does not reduce the risk of wildfires

Join us April 8th for a webinar hosted by the Biomass Action Network, Global Forest Coalition and Biofuelwatch to debunk the biomass industry myth that burning forest biomass for bioenergy reduces the risk of wildfires.

The biomass industry is using this narrative to justify its expansion, when the reality is that burning biomass is driving the climate crisis that exacerbates the intensity and frequency of wildfires around the world.

SPEAKERS:

• Robinson Torres – Sociology professor at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile and one of the founders of the Red de Superación del Modelo Forestal (Network to Overcome the Forestry Model).
• Paulo Pimento do Castro – Forestry engineer, president of the NGOs Acréscimo and IRIS, and co-author of the book “Portugal in Flames: How to rescue the forests.”
• Gary Hughes – Biofuelwatch campaigner based in California, currently active on the campaign to stop two new pellet mills by GSNR.
