This third session of the Emancipation School builds on the important discussions we’ve had so far. In April, we looked at how systems of oppression, like patriarchy, capitalism, and colonialism, impact forest protection and gender justice. In June, we heard from decolonial and ecofeminist perspectives that emphasized the importance of community, autonomy, and integrating our struggles.

Now, in July, we’ll start putting these ideas into practice through collective strategic planning. We’ll reflect on what we’ve learned, hear experiences from GFC member organizations in Africa, and begin identifying shared priorities and first steps to strengthen gender justice across the coalition.

Speakers

In this session, we’ll hear reflections from Claudia Gimena Roa (Fundaexpresión, Colombia) and Ariella Kabunga (PIDP, DRC), as well as testimonials from Patrick Mukanga(Conseil pour la Terre des Ancêtres, DRC) and Lilian Bruce (Development Institute, Ghana). The collective planning session will be facilitated by Renee Gibson from RICCE (Liberia), with overall facilitation by Johanna Molina (Colectivo VientoSur, Chile).

Interpretation  🌐

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French, Spanish, and Russian to ensure inclusive participation.

Please join us for this important step in shaping a stronger, more just, and inclusive GFC.
