In a world marked by the escalating climate crisis, deepening inequalities, and accelerating resource extraction, civil society leaders from across the Global South are calling for a profound shift away from false climate solutions and towards real, gender-just and people-led pathways.
At COP30, representatives from Indigenous movements, feminist organizations, food sovereignty networks, and anti-extractivist coalitions will hold a press conference to highlight why “just transition” must be reclaimed from corporate narratives and recentred on community-led transformations.
With representatives from the by Global Forest Coalition (GFC), IBON International, the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD), Indigenous Environment Network (IEN), Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN) and Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) – and support from Centre for Community Economics and Development Consultants Society (CECOEDECON) and FIAN International, the event will bring together voices from Latin America, Africa and Asia to unpack the political and economic forces driving destructive policies — from carbon markets and TFFF (Tropical Forests Forever Facility) to “green” extractivism and the global race for critical minerals.
Join us to hear why global civil society is pushing back and demanding a truly equitable and just transition in energy and food systems, and towards real solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises.
