19 May 2022
Virtual

This webinar will share information and views between members and allies of the Global Forest Coalition (GFC), Women Engaged for a Common Future (WECF) and their patterns in the Green Livelihood Alliance (GLA), as well as broader women’s networks, on strategies to ensure that the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework will be gender-just and gender-transformative.

The event will start with three introductory presentations by Southern rightsholder groups and NGOs:

Mrinalini Rai, director of Women4Biodiversity in Thailand and convenor of the CBD Women’s Caucus, will share the perspective of women’s groups on gender justice in the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Lucy Mulenkei, director of the Indigenous Information Network (IIN) in Kenya and co-facilitator of the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity will share the perspective of Indigenous women on gender justice in biodiversity policies and the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Andrea Echeverri of Censat Agua Viva/Friends of the Earth Colombia, and one of the partners of the Green Livelihood Alliance (GLA) in Colombia, will share the results of an analysis on obstacles to the implementation of the CBD in the field of traditional knowledge and the conservation of community forests and territories from a gender perspective.

The introductions will be followed by an open discussion.

The meeting will be held in English with Spanish-English interpretation. Please indicate before 15 May on the registration form if you would like interpretation into French or Russian.
