Performance system

The Global Forest Coalition Monitoring Evaluation Planning and Learning-system (MEPL) provides easy and centralised access to a broad range of information on the results, lessons learned and expertise gathered from the main programs of the Global Forest Coalition:

  • the independent monitoring program, which enables NGOs
    and Indigenous Peoples' Organisations to monitor the implementation of international forest policies like the forest workprogram of the Biodiversity Convention by their government;
  • the underlying causes initiative, which enables NGOs and Indigenous Peoples' Organisations to analyze the underlying causes of forest loss in their country;
  • Life as Commerce, a campaign to analyze and raise awareness of the social and environmental impact of market-based conservation mechanisms; and
  • the agrofuels and GM trees campaign, which focuses on the impacts of genetically modified trees and second generation, cellulose-based agrofuels on forests and forest peoples.

Users with varying interests and expertise can find relevant documents and contribute to the growing knowledge base. The MEPL-system is an Impact Resource Centre which measures the impact of the policies, programs, projects and other interventions of the Global Forest Coalition.
